PTC Confirm Ken Durkin Remains Banned

My attempts at engaging with Pocklington Town Council to lift their Facebook ban has fallen on deaf ears.

Could I suggest that someone starts a petition to support Ken?

Dear Gordon,

I am shocked to learn that Ken Durkin has been banned from the Pocklington Town Council Facebook page.

Could I politely request that he is unbanned?

Dear Cllr Strangeway,

Ken Durkin’s latest posts were irrelevant to the thread of the conversation on Facebook and he persists in posting his opinions which  are factually incorrect and personally malicious towards councillor and employees of the Council.  This is the reason he has been blocked.

The group will be closing shortly as we will have a facebook page for posting Council activities and information.  If residents have concerns or comments about the Council’s activities these should be made by email, phone or letter to the office.

Dear Gordon,

Thank you for your reply.

Ken is a highly respected elderly gentleman in the town and many residents are “disappointed” that Pock Town Council have banned him.

Your comments:

  1. “Ken Durkin’s latest posts were irrelevant to the thread of the conversation on Facebook” – This is subjective. It is the very nature of Facebook.
  2. and he persists in posting his opinions which  are factually incorrect” – Could you please inform me of six examples where his opinions are factually incorrect? Even if his opinions are incorrect he should still be allowed his opinions.
  3. “and personally malicious towards councillor and employees of the Council.” – Again this is subjective.

I look forward to hearing from you regards the six examples. Once I receive them I will share with Ken.

Finally, to put this to bed, could I politely request that you unblock Ken.

Dear Cllr Strangeway

We will not be allowing Ken Durkin back into the group, nor will we be spending any more time addressing the issue.
