When I received my Agenda for last weeks Pocklington Town Council (PTC) meeting I was pleased to notice for the first time, that 15 minutes had been allocated for public participation. Normally this time is taken up with presentations.
The meeting was duly suspended. (Previously, for five years, the PTC closed the meeting at this point and the unlawfully reopened it!) Within five minutes the Mayor “allowed” one of the Councillors to take over the public section for the next ten minutes.
Not one Councillor or the Clerk questioned this.
Welcome to the world of PTC.
I encourage everyone to attend the next meeting to see how the PTC conducts itself. Hopefully they will be allowed time to ask their own questions.
