London Street Crossing – Moving Forward

An ERYC officer has provide the following update regards the London Street Crossing

ls-patrol-2

“……. regarding the signs and flashing amber lights on the westbound approach to the London Street School Crossing Patrol site. The sign has been straightened, but the electrics need some further investigation and work, which is planned for next week. The flashing lights together with the patrol sign are used at sites where the patrol cannot be clearly seen.  On both approaches along London Street the site is obscured by the highway alignment.  For drivers heading up Union Street and from the junction with London Street, the crossing site is clearly visible so that additional signs are not necessary.

As the patrol signs and flashing amber lights are not permitted on the approach to a zebra crossing, when the new crossing is installed, the patrol signs will be removed and replaced with warning signs for the zebra crossing ahead. Again, as the crossing will be visible from Union Street  no extra signs will be put in place.”

Well done ERYC for keeping the public informed.
