ERYC Council Tax – Legal Loophole?

I have been contacted by residents who are confused by this years Council Tax Bill. The bill states an increase for adult social care of 3% when in truth, using my Council Tax as an example, it is an increase of 156%. (£18.85 to £48.26)

We should never mislead residents and this is clearly the case here.

In addition to misleading residents I believe we have created a legal loophole by which residents can state their bill contains a false statement and thus they are not obliged to pay.

Is this fraud by false representation by ERYC?

I have requested that Caroline Lacey, ERYC Director of Corporate Resources and in coming Chief Executive gives careful consideration to this “error” and considers reissuing all incorrect Council Tax Bills immediately.
