Burnby Lane Closure

The following is a public announcement from Yorkshire Water.

Clean water improvements along Burnby Lane, Pocklington.

As you may be aware, over the last few years, we’ve had a number of contacts regarding discoloured drinking water from customers along Burnby Lane, Pocklington and the nearby area. This is because the water main under the road has burst 27 times in the       last five years. This means that we need to carry out a project to ensure we can continue to provide high quality drinking water to local residents.

From 12 June, our contract partner, Morrison Utility Services (MUS), will start work to replace over 500 metres of clean water pipe running under Burnby Lane and expect the scheme to take around six weeks to complete.

Road closure on Burnby Lane

In order to carry out this work safely and in liaison with the local Highways department, we need to close Burnby Lane between the junctions of Percy Road and Wold Road. We understand this is a very busy road but due to the location of the pipe, the only way we can complete this work safely is by closing the road to through traffic. Access will be maintained for pedestrians, emergency services and for residents who live within the closure area. During the closure, a fully signed diversion will be in place using Wold Road.

Local businesses will remain open as usual and we ask that you please continue to support them during this time. Any refuse collections will continue so please put your bins out as normal. If your water supply is likely to be impacted by this work you will be notified separately with dates and times of any temporary disruption.

We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you in advance for your patience. Please be assured we’ll do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work as quickly as possible.
