ERYC Legal have been on my back with two complaints against me due to comments on this site despite my legal disclaimer which states:
“Opinions and statements published on the ‘Andy Strangeway Independent’ blog are those of the owner, Andy Strangeway, private individual, and not those of Councillor Andy Strangeway, elected member of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.”
The ERYC Legal team rely on others not understanding the law. Mathew Buckley, ERYC Head of Legal, has refused to accept my disclaimer. By doing so assisting a witch hunt by ERYC Officers and Tories who I am exposing for unacceptable conduct.
The East Riding and Northern Lincolnshire Local Councils Association, known as ERNLLCA, is an independent body which supports parish and town councils in the North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Alan Barker, Executive Officer, ERNLLCA has stated:
“More and more councillors are opening Facebook pages, writing blogs and so on to inform residents about what they are doing as councillors. Provided they include a disclaimer of some sort that they are speaking personally and not on behalf of the council, they are the protected”
Alan Barker clearly demonstrates that what Mathew Buckley has stated is false. My disclaimer has legal basis and as such no complaint against me can be accepted as per the ERYC Code of Conduct for anything I state on my site.
ERYC must now stop all complaints against me with immediate effect. Indeed, officers like Pam Allen will require retraining with regards disclaimers as will Mathew Buckley.
I believe ERYC have wasted a substantial sum of tax payers money processing the complaints against me which should never have been accepted in the first instance.

Subject: ERYC Legal – Training Required
Dear Mathew and Caroline,
Could I please refer you to https://andystrangewayindependent.com/2017/08/07/eryc-legal-training-required/
As per the post I request all complaints in relation to what I have posted on my site are stopped with immediate effect.
In addition, officers including Mathew clearly require full training regards disclaimers.
Finally I request an unreserved apology from Mathew on ERYC headed paper for the distress and harassment I have received over recent months and the time I have had to waste dealing with the complaints which should never have been accepted in the first place.
Hopefully this will be the end of what I consider a witch hunt against me.
Cllr Andy Strangeway
