The East Riding of Yorkshire Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along George Street Pocklington between the North side of Chapmangate junction and the South side of Chapmangate junction, commencing on Wednesday 30th August 2017.
The closure is necessary to enable sewer connection works to be carried out in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. The Order will be valid for 18 months. Work is anticipated to be completed within approximately 7 days.
The alternative route for South bound traffic affected by the road closure will be via George Street, Garths End, The Mile, Bridge Street, London Street, St Helens Gate, Kilnwick Road, Percy Road, New Street, The Balk and Station Road.
The alternative route for North bound traffic affected by the road closure will be via Railway Street, Market Place, Market Street, Chapmangate, The Mile, Garths End and George Street.
The road will be closed at all times to all traffic but restricted access during working hours will be maintained for emergency services, properties affected by the closure and pedestrians.
