In Fury Over Market Day Parking Tickets I explained how residents had received tickets after the early closure of last weeks market for parking in Market Place. ERYC issued the following Press Release:
“There are six signs, three on each side of the road, which show that no parking or waiting is allowed in those spaces between the hours of 6am and 6pm on Tuesdays, irrespective of when the market starts or finishes. Those restrictions have been in place for a number of years.
“In the whole of 2017 so far the council has only issued two parking tickets in Market Place on Tuesdays. They were both issued on Tuesday 8 August between 2pm and 2.05pm.”
False Statement
This is a false statement as the PCN below was issued in Market Place, not Market Street, Tuesday 29 August.
The resident has requested my assistance to appeal the PCN.
Common Sense Must Prevail
What ERYC state is correct with regards the parking restrictions. But as it is insane to close Pock Town Centre for up to four hours on a Tuesday after the Market has closed. A simple pragmatic, common sense approach must be taken.
When the Market is closed and the barriers are removed residents should be allowed to park in the Town Centre to support local business in full knowledge that ERYC will not issue a parking ticket.
Request To ERYC
I have requested that Paul Bellotti, ERYC Director cancels the PCN and agrees to a pragmatic, common sense approach to the situation.
