A resident has raised concerns with me that vehicles are parked on the Yapham Road/ George Street/ Barmby Road junction when vehicles should not be parked within 10m of a junction.
The junction on a quiet day
Rule 43 of the Highway Code states:
“Do not park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space”
This is a real dilemma and I can see it both ways. Parking is an issue in Pocklington but the law must be respected especially on such an important and potentially dangerous junction.
Given that there will soon be another 700 vehicles using the junction daily I have referred the matter to County Hall.
C – Thank you for raising this issue with me.
