The Local Authorities (Members’ Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 require the Council, as soon as reasonably practicable after the end of a financial year, to publish the allowances paid to each member.
A basic allowance of £11,056 per annum is payable to each member (Councillor)of the council in a full year (*indicates not paid a full year – commenced D Healy 20.10.16, W Lisseter 05.05.16, A Strangeway 07.04.16, D Tucker 04.08.16 & I Charis ceased 17.08.16) and is intended to recognise the time devoted by members to their work.
The special responsibility allowances are payable to those members who hold positions which require them to spend more time and effort on the council’s affairs than would be expected of other members.
Travel and subsistence allowances are payments in reimbursement of expenses incurred by members on Council business.
The amounts paid, except for travelling and subsistence, are net of income tax and national insurance contributions depending upon members personal circumstances.
