ERYC £1,176,258.07 Gagging Orders Shame

I can reveal that over the four-year period between 2013 and 2016 East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) issued a total of 79 Gagging Orders at a cost of £1,176,258.07.

The vast majority of these Gagging Orders were issued to those working in East Riding schools.

ERYC should never issue gagging orders as it is generally used to silence failures. These failures need to be fully investigated not covered up. Of course, in certain circumstances, the gagging orders have no legal basis despite what ERYC Legal may claim.

If anyone who has received a gagging order would like to discuss exposing the reasons for their Gagging Order I can be contacted in the usually ways.

Mathew Buckley – Corrupt or Incompetent?

I received this information via the Freedom of Information Act (FOI). The FOI states information must be provided within 20 working days.

It took ERYC over 13 months to provide me with this information. Even then this was only after the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) had spent almost a year involved in the case.

This failure by ERYC will have cost ERYC and National tax payers thousands of pounds.

Why did Mathew Buckley, ERYC Head of Legal and Democratic Services, who was involved in the case for about 11 months, fail to understand the most simple of legislation?

Is he corrupt or incompetent?

Mathew came up with various reasons why I could not have access to the information. Yet after over a year and wasting so much money he was forced to give me the information shared above.

Caroline Lacey – Investigation Requested

I have requested Caroline Lacey, ERYC Chief Executive carries out a full investigation into this case.

If the investigation concludes Mathew is not corrupt he must be given the required retraining.
