Without warning ERYC have stopped emptying the brown bin for St John The Baptist Church, Wilberfoss after over ten years of doing so.
The lame excuse is that brown bins are for residential use. Is a church yard not our finally residence?
Either side of the church are homes which have the brown bins emptied. This silly and unnecessary action by ERYC is distasteful especially in the month leading up to the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. It will not save one penny of Council Tax.
It is disrespectful to those who have served our country not only from the local area but also from across the world as there is also a Commonwealth War Grave in the churchyard.
The church wardens are rightly proud of their churchyard which is kept with a very green, environmentally friendly ethos. It is a delight to visit.
I have requested ERYC to revisit this shameful decision before 11.00 on 11 November 2018 and show respect to those who have served our country and are laid to rest in Wilberfoss churchyard.
