As I fully appreciate the challenges carers face in the area I have invited the Pocklington and surrounding area Carers Group to my next surgery in the Methodist Church meeting room, Stamford Bridge on Saturday 23 February, 09.00 t0 11.00.
Are You A Carer?
“A Carer is someone who spends a significant proportion of their life providing unpaid support to family or potentially friends. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse issues. The support Carers provide is often twenty four seven and may be emotional, physical and /or practical.
Caring can be a very demanding role for the Carer but help is available. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council Carers Support Service has a walk in centre in Wednesday Market based in Beverley Tel : 0800 9176844 and offers help and support to Carers. They offer many free services depending on a “needs assessment” and a cuppa and a chat are always available.
Pocklington Carers Group is open to any Carer over 18 (young carers are catered for separately) so if you need more information, just come along on Saturday or ring me on 01759 371575 as we will be pleased to see you.”
