ERYC 2019 Election Prediction

Many are asking what is my opinion as to the outcome of next Thursdays ERYC election.

Predicted Seats After Thursday

I believe the 67 seats will be:

  • Conservative – 37
  • Independent 16
  • Labour – 4
  • Liberal Democrat – 10

Current Seats

Currently the 67 seats are:

  • Conservative – 47
  • Independent – 6
  • Labour – 6
  • Liberal Democrat – 3
  • UKIP – 3
  • Other – 2 (Both former Conservatives)

The Numbers

As the Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats all have whips if one party has more than 34 seats we have a dictatorship. As such if the Conservatives have a maximum 37 seats democracy is almost possible again at County Hall.

The main reason the Conservatives will receive votes is if there are no Independents standing against them in their Ward. I believe the results will demonstrate this.

I am looking forward to Thursday. Hopefully the electors will ensure democracy returns to County Hall after years of dictatorship.

Everyone can vote for up to three candidates in the Pocklington Provincial and Wolds Weighton Wards
