Pocklington Town Council (PTC) in collusion with Humberside Police is clearly attempting to cover up the unlawful Pocklington CCTV fiasco by various means.

At the centre of this is Town Clerk Gordon Scaife. An example of this cover-up and the lies being told is that for over five months he has claimed not to hold contact details of the Data Controller (owner) of the Pocklington CCTV system. Yet he now claims that ownership of the CCTV system is being migrated from Pocklington and Market Weighton Crime Prevention Panel to PTC.

How is this taking place when he claims they do not hold contact details for the Data Controller?

In addition, the Pocklington and Market Weighton Crime Prevention Panel are disbanded and NOT a registered Data Controller, as required by legislation, with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

PTC has put all of this in writing to ICO.

Pocklington CCTV System Still Unlawful

Despite my raising the issue over five months ago of the unlawful status of the Pocklington CCTV system with both PTC and Humberside Police it still remains unlawful.

This should have been sorted within a matter of weeks.

It is obvious that as all concerned failed to understand the relevant legislation to avoid this situation my legal understanding is beyond that of both PTC and Humberside Police. So why have they never requested my assistance to correct their failures?

Without my intervention, CCTV evidence would have been used over the past five months that further down the line could result in a legal challenge by the defendant to any “conviction” they received.

The sad truth is that both PTC and Humberside Police are more concerned with covering their backs than complying with legislation and protecting the public. Their collective attempt to cover-up has been a criminals charter for over five months. And still, we wait for a resolution.

In the meantime, the CCTV cameras in Pocklington remain ornaments and a criminals charter.

Ostrich In The Sand

Some believe I should never have raised the issue and instead be an ostrich in the sand like PTC and Humberside Police.

As a campaigner, I firmly believe that we can never break the law to enforce the law. Not only would this be immoral and unlawful but such conduct would mean the actions of those committing crimes would result in any conviction based on the CCTV system footage being overturned.

The failure of PTC and Humberside Police means hundreds of criminals who committed crimes in Pocklington can now have their convictions overturned. As my Grandfather would say “What a bloody mess lad“.

Why The Cover-Up?

I publish below details of PTC Councillors to allow residents to ask why they have failed, why they are attempting to cover up and why they have not attempted to engage with the only person who understood the situation?

If they deny the facts I am happy to attend a public meeting with PTC and Humberside Police at the Art Centre in the next couple of weeks that is live-streamed to allow Pocklington residents to learn the truth.

I have nothing to hide but others clearly do.
