North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) have revealed that Hambleton District Council (HDC) have lied in relation to amending the overnight parking ban at Leeming Bar.
NYCC has confirmed that
“the Hambleton District Council (HDC) Cabinet Report, Dec 2019 misinterprets the information provided by North Yorkshire County Council as Local Highway Authority”.
The misinterpreted information stated:
“5.18 It was confirmed by North Yorkshire County Council Highways Authority on 3 April 2019 that the signs installed as notification of the Public Space Protection Order are considered to be public notices; as such they are permitted within the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 without the need for special authorisation from the Secretary of State.”
In Council speak “misinterpreted” translates to lying in layman speak.
In order to ensure I continue to have clean hands my communication with NYCC on the subject continues.
Perhaps the author of the report Steven Lister, Director of Leisure and Communities, who has “misinterpreted” and thus mislead HDC Cabinet would like to offer a statement for publication?
How does it go Steven? Pants on fire?
