Government To Introduce Parking Code Of Practice

Having exposed and successfully challenged the failures in the Code of Practice for members of the British Parking Association I am delighted to confirm that the Government will now introduce a Code of Practise, supported by legislation, for the operation and management of private parking facilities.

In the UK representative organisations are first given the opportunity to self regulate instead of introducing legislation to ensure the conduct of their industry is fit for purpose. The UK Parking industry failed to achieve this objective and the Government is now acting.

It is likely that the next version of the Code of Practice for parking will be the Code written by the Government as part of the Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019. The Secretary of State must prepare a code of practice containing guidance about the operation and management of private parking facilities.

Fundamental to the new code is that parking companies must have and produce evidence of parking whenever a Parking Ticket is issued. To date, this has not been the case.

My work on this campaign is now complete.
