ERYC Forced To Publish Damning Documents

ERYC Head of Legal Mathew Buckley has failed in his year-long attempt to unlawful deny an East Riding resident access to information in relation to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in breach of the Freedom of Information Act.

ERYC Head of Legal Mathew Buckley

Please read ICO Decision Notice – 11 March 2021

East Riding residents will note that Mathew demonstrates a lack of understanding as to the required legislation. I would politely suggest to Mathew how his actions have wasted taxpayers resources, caused unnecessary stress to Parent Carers of SEND children and potentially caused additional suffering to vulnerable children.

Context

If ERYC had released the 68 documents in 2017 to Parent Carers of disabled and vulnerable young people the same issues being raised in 2021 could have been addressed four years prior. This would have meant that Parent Carers could have challenged ERYC. Instead, SEND  families have been left in turmoil.

Many ERYC Councillors have been sent individual families cases but sadly have failed to act. This contributed in 2020 to ERYC receiving a damning Ofsted Report. This could have been prevented if these 68 documents had been released in 2017.

Councillors – At Your Service

The ongoing failures at ERYC are as a direct result of Cllrs failing to challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs. This allows the Officers to conduct themselves in a manner that results in the failure of Children Services and Planning.

In the public interest, I invite ERYC councillors to leak documents to me whenever they have evidence of poor behaviour. If appropriate I will then publish such evidence.

Cllr Julie Abraham Must Go

Given the Ofsted Report and now the clear evidence of an attempt to conceal vital information Cllr Julie Abraham, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People, Education, Health and Social Care must go now before further children are failed.

Cllr Julie Abraham

68 Documents

I submit all 68 documents to the Court of Public Opinion to enable adequate and appropriate scrutiny of documents that ERYC did not want the public to see. The collective suggests that ERYC Children Services are in shambles.

NB: All documents have been redacted where required by ERYC.
