Conservative Pocklington Provincial Councillor Kay West is the current vice Chair of ERYC.
After the election in May, there will be a new ERYC Chair elected by the new Councillors. As a general rule, the previous year’s vice Chair becomes the new Chair.
A Pocklington Provincial resident has correctly pointed out that when a Councillor serves as the ERYC Chair their Ward work is put on the back burner.
The resident is concerned that this will mean that one of the three candidates hoping to be elected as Councillors in May will be otherwise engaged and that this would be a considerable detriment to Pocklington Provincial residents.
It would be inappropriate for me to comment, so I have emailed Councillor West to give her the opportunity to appease residents’ concerns.
Dear Kay,
I hope life is treating you well and you are enjoying preparing for the election in May.
Could I please refer you to – Will ERYC Vice Chair Become Chair?
Could you advise, do you intend to stand to be elected as the ERYC Chair in May?
Best wishes for the election.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Andy Strangeway
